Duo consisting of harpsichord and piano started literally as a joke, but two seconds later it started to seem that it could work, and moreover – it could be much more interesting than expected. We played some early baroque and renaissance music for two keyboard instruments – which at the time weren’t specified.
Seemingly anachronistic, the overall sound produced is so unique that all the questions about how and why actually fade. One big inspiration was Alfred Schnittke’s Gogol Suite, which uses the duo heavily throughout the instrumentation, often very much close together.
This fascination culminated with our own arrangement of the suite, which was – including our own Improvisational Games (a musical sketch with collective improvisation) the highlight of our concert at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
